Grinding aid is the general term of the chemical agents added into the grinding system during the grinding process. Its main function is to improve grinding efficiency, speed up ore particles to break, and alter the ore pulp’s rheological characteristics through the dispersion effect of the agent. Some agents can play a corrosion inhibition effect on the steel balls and lining board, and eventually achieve the purpose of reducing energy consumption, steel consumption and selective grinding.

In addition, the grinding aid application tests on different natural ores have showed that the composite grinding agent has good grinding effect, better than that of general industrial grinding agents. Especially in bauxite application, there exists obvious selective grinding in the grinding process of bauxite ores, with the aluminium oxide concentrating in the coarse grade level and silicon dioxide in the fine grade. After adding grinding aid to the grinding process, this procedure can be strengthened and the productivity and recovery rate can also be further improved.
