Brief Analysis on the Faults of Ball Mill Transmission System

Ball mill applies to grinding all kinds of ores and other materials and can be divided into dry type and wet type, widely used in ore beneficiation, building materials and chemical industry, etc. But after a long time of running, there will be something wrong with the constitution structure of ball mill. Next, we will analyze the faults possible to happen to the ball mill transmission system.

1. The wear to the abrasive grains.

On the one hand, the transmission gear of ball mill works in a dusty environment, where the dust may enter into the meshing tooth surfaces due to the untight sealing of the gear box. On the other hand, the oil may be impure. So during the operation, users should make the meshing surface tightly sealed and change oil at regular intervals.

2. The fatigue of the gear surface.

In the process of meshing, under a repeated action of the contact stress beyond the bearing limit of the gear material and the existence of rolling friction and sliding friction, the gear surface is liable to appear fatigue cracks which may further lead to the metal surface falling off. In order to avoid this situation happening, users should adopt qualified spare parts and inspect regularly. Once the damages to gear are found, it should be replaced timely.

3. Bearing Failure.

The low rotating speed, high load and thin oil film for dynamic pressure lubrication together make the temperature on the frictional contact point higher and the bearing shell scratched and even result in bearing burnout when serious. Bearing heating is generally caused by many reasons, such as the malfunctions of the lubrication system, oil shortage of the lubricating oil pump, improper lubricating oil brand, oil impurity and cooling water breaking off, and so on.
