Analysis about Whether Raymond Mill can Replace Ball Mill

It is well known to all that both Raymond mill and ball mill are grinding machine. Before Raymond mill has been introduced to China, ball mill has almost been used in all grinding industries . However, as the Raymond mill is gradually accepted, the tendency of ball mill replaced by Raymond mill seems to advance irresistibly. Today, we will analysis the feasibility of ball mill replaced by Raymond mill.

Feasibility analysis one: Requirements for grinding material. Raymond mill is suitable for grinding the inflammable and explosion material with less than 9.3 grade Moh’s hardness and below the humidity level of 6%, such as marble, limestone, kaolin, talc, calcite, barite, dolomite, heat insulation material, cement and glass. Ball mill can be used in the processing of new type construction material, cement, chemical fertilizer, non-ferrous metal, ferrous metal, silicate products and refractory material.

Feasibility analysis two: Requirements for grinding material granularity. The discharging granularity of Raymond mill is within the range of 0.125-0.044mm, but the ball mill is within 0.074-0.4.

Feasibility analysis three: Structure analysis. Raymond mill is vertical wind grinding equipment with small occupation area and simple operation. Ball mill is a horizontal grinding machine with large occupation area. There is large relationship between grinding granularity and the diameter and cylinder length.

From the analysis above, we can see that Raymond mill is only able to replace the ball mill in some field such as cement industry. But in other special industry, ball mill cannot be replaced by Raymond mill.
